This thing was a lot of fun to work on...we've done a ton of posters for WHY? over the last couple years, and when they came to us this time, I really just wanted to pack an 18"x24" sheet FULL of Yoni's lyrics. He was into it, and a handful of Word files later, we'd narrowed it down to the crucial skeletons behind most of the songs in the band's catalog...from the whispered sleeper confessions to the tongue-twisters to the punches everyone yells along to at the shows, we covered a lot of territory with this one.

James Eads Tarot Card Set Release

No comments:

James Eads has released something very unique and something a little different from the usual art you see.

The Light Visions Tarot Deck is based on the traditional tarot. Split into two parts this first part contains the 22 Major Arcana cards in the full 78 card deck. These cards are the base cards of the classic tarot deck andrepresent core archetypes of human nature. The Light Visions Tarot Deck is designed as a functional tarot deck and can be used in tarot readings when coupled with the second half of the deck, with an anticipated release of Autumn 2013.

Within this portion of the deck there are the 22 Major Arcana cards, a 23rd "mystery" card and two additional information cards that briefly tell the story of the fool and his journey through the world. There is a total of 25 cards.

The Major Arcana deck comes in a hand stamped high quality cotton muslin bag with an accompanying kraft tag. Each tag is signed and numbered in a first edition of 100. The cards have identical backs, are approximately 2 7/8" x 4 3/4" and are a Archival Pigment Printing process that have a UV coating which allows them to be durable and remain in the best condition. The cards can be used as functional tarot cards or can be creatively displayed - each card is illustrated with great care and detail and can stand alone as it's own piece of art. A note to the collectors who plan on purchasing a full deck: Buying the deck in separate parts will not end up costing more than buying the entire deck when it is released. In fact, the mystery cards and hand stamped bag will only come with the deck if the major arcana is purchased before the minor arcana. There will be the option to buy only the Minor Arcana when it is released, which will include the remaining 56 cards and a box large enough to fit all 78 cards from your two purchases.

Inner State Gallery Presents Austrian Artist NYCHOS Solo Exhibition in Detroit

No comments:

Inner State Gallery welcomes NYCHOS for his first Detroit solo exhibition titled “I’d Like To Meat You!” opening Friday June 21st. This exhibition is free and open to the public, opening night artist’s reception will run from 7-10pm and the exhibition will remain on view through July 18th.

In “I’d Like to Meat You!” Nychos will showcase an entirely new body of work inspired by his love of anatomy, graffiti and Detroit’s Eastern Market, an area with a storied history as a hub for public murals, produce and freshly butchered meat, all things the painter has long been acquainted with in his native country of Austria.

“My dad and my grandpa were traditional Austrian hunters, so I think that is where some of my interest in anatomy comes from. Seeing a deer dissected for the first time was very inspiring for me. Seeing all the guts and intestines drop out, it was a bit crazy at first,” Nychos told Hypebeast while painting at the world’s premiere street art festival Pow Wow Hawaii earlier this year. “Using all of this anatomy I think have found something I can stick with and really go crazy on. It’s staying fresh for me because I am always finding new ways to do it.”

Compiling his anatomic knowledge with sliced cross sections, x-ray peek-ins and detailed dissections “I’d Like To Meat You!” will be a colorful exploration of new works on paper, canvas and wood highlighting Nychos’ skilled range across graffiti, illustration and street art. In 2012 Nychos made his first visit to Detroit and collaborated with Flying Fortress on a large mural titled “Jukebox Cowboys” in Eastern Market where a dissected Jukebox adorns the side of a building on Orleans Street. It was an experience that stuck with Nychos, as one year later he has returned to Detroit to create his latest body of work influenced by the historic meatpacking and produce hub.

In addition, Nychos will also join The WEIRD in the following week as Inner State Gallery welcomes the 10-person international art collective for a group exhibition. Opening June 29th, the show will also feature an artist lecture and Q&A, followed by a black book signing and artist’s reception from 6-10pm.

Nychos Dissection Of The White Rabbit Print Release

No comments:

"I painted this piece in January of this year, right before I went to Hawaii for Pow Wow. It was also featured in my recent solo show in Italy that showcased some of my recent dissections. The concept is based on the graphical graffiti throw up that I have been doing since around 2005, but I had to of course do a dissection of this one!

The image is now also the main logo for Rabbit Eye Movement (REM). REM started as a street art concept, based in Vienna, but I always saw the Rabbit Eye Movement as an homage to all the “rabbits” out there being active in the urban art movement, it doesn’t matter what kind of mission they are following. The movement grew and REM has now expanded to establish the REM ARTSPACE, a place that addresses national and international artists from different genres like graffiti, urban illustration, street art, lowbrow and pop culture imagery and gives room for the individual, but also collective creativity, in order to open minds and cultivate passionate inspiration." - Nychos

Dissection Of The White Rabbit is a 16 x 16 Inches Archival Pigment Print on 300gsm Museum Natural Fine Art Paper with a signed and numbered edition of 100
